OVERVIEW

Welcome to the Dolphin Olympics! The objective of the game is to score as many points as possible in 2 minutes. If this is your first time playing, start with the Basic Techniques first. Once you are comfortable with the controls, move on to advanced techniques.

BASIC TECHNIQUES

Controls

Use the UP arrow key to make your dolphin accelerate. Be careful; while accelerating, you use up your dolphin's stamina. If you use up all of your stamina, your dolphin will become exhausted and you will have to wait a short time for him to catch his breath.

Use the LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys to turn your dolphin left and right. You can also use these keys to flip your dolphin left and right while airborne.

Use the DOWN key to slow your dolphin and to regain stamina. The DOWN key can also be used to perform a TAILSLIDE.

Jumping

Once you have built up some speed by accelerating, aim your dolphin for the surface of the water and try taking a jump. While you are in the air, use the LEFT or RIGHT arrow key to flip your dolphin forwards or backwards. Doing flips will score points. Try to do as many flips as possible while jumping for maximum points!

ADVANCED TECHNIQUES

Landing

When you approach the surface of the water, try to line up your dolphin so that it lands nose first, and that it is lined up with your trajectory. The better you land, the more speed you will retain for your next jump. If you land exceptionally well, you will score a NICE ENTRY.

NICE ENTRY Bonus

If you land your dolphin at an angle complementary to the angle you took off at, you will score a 'NICE ENTRY' bonus. This bonus gives you some bonus points, and also adds to your MULTIPLIER. It also increases your maximum speed until you perform a landing and don't receive a NICE ENTRY bonus. Use NICE ENTRY bonuses to build your speed and soar over the waves!

TRICKS

There are several different tricks you can make your dolphin perform:

FLIPS
Perform flips by pressing the LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys while airborne. If you rotate your dolphin a full 360 degrees, you will score 500 points.

REWINDS
After performing a front or backflip, switch direction and do a flip in the other direction to do a rewind. Rewinds score slightly more points than a standard flip.

TAILSLIDE
To do a tailslide, swim towards the surface of the water at a very low angle, so that you are almost parallel with the waves. Right when you are about to hit the surface of the water, press the DOWN key to do a tailslide. Once sliding, you can wait for the slide to end, or press the UP key to kick out of the slide. The longer you slide, the more points you'll score.

CHAINS AND MULTIPLIERS

By performing consecutive tricks while in the air, you can peform CHAINS. Every time you peform an additional trick within your jump, you will not only add more points to your score, but you will also increase your MULTIPLIER. When you land your jump, your score for that jump is multiplied by your MULTIPLIER. Chain together as many tricks as you can to score big points for your jumps.

Your MULTIPLIER will increase more if you mix up your tricks. The more times you repeat a trick in your jump, the less you will increase your multiplier. For example, doing 6 front flips won't increase your score as much as doing a front flip, a rewind, and two backflips, and another rewind.

CONNECTING JUMPS

You can also chain together entire jumps! When you land, you will have a few precious moments before your chain ends. If you can take off into another jump before your chain ends, you can chain your jumps together for massive points!
